In November 2025, during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, the 1050th anniversary of the Tajik-Persian poetess Rabia Balkhi was inscribed on the UNESCO List of Anniversaries for 2026–2027. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
Rabia Balkhi, a contemporary of the great poet Rudaki, lived during the Samanid Empire and is considered one of the outstanding figures in Tajik and Persian literature. The international celebration of the poet's anniversary highlights the rich history and cultural heritage of the Tajik people, as well as the importance of preserving and promoting their literary and artistic heritage internationally.
The inclusion of Rabia Balkhi's anniversary in the official UNESCO calendar of commemorative dates strengthens cultural dialogue between countries and increases global interest in Tajikistan's heritage.
