The international conference on artificial intelligence, AI Conf 2025, took place in Dushanbe, bringing together representatives from government, technology companies, international organizations, and venture capital funds.
According to the press center of one of the ministries, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Khokim Kholikzoda, took part in the opening of the conference.
Speaking at the plenary session, Khokim Kholikzoda emphasized that Tajikistan prioritizes sustainable economic, social, and technological development. He noted that the country is considered one of the leaders in the Central Asian region in the development and implementation of public policy in the field of artificial intelligence.
He recalled that the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence for the Period up to 2040 in Tajikistan, which is the first document of its kind in Central Asia, was approved by a decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2022.
According to Khokim Kholikzoda, this year, at the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan, a special UN General Assembly resolution, "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia," was adopted. This resolution, he noted, is of global significance and strengthens Tajikistan's position as a pioneer in advancing the development of artificial intelligence at the regional level.
In this regard, the creation of a Central Asian Center for Artificial Intelligence is planned in Dushanbe.
As the First Deputy Prime Minister reported, significant work has already been carried out in Tajikistan as part of the implementation of the national strategy in the field of artificial intelligence.
"In particular, the country has established an Artificial Intelligence Academy, trained over 750 young specialists, and created over ten national startups, most of which have found their place in international markets. The specialty of 'Artificial Intelligence' has been included in the curricula of ten universities across the country, and the project 'Artificial Intelligence Lessons in 100 General Education Schools' has been launched. In Dushanbe, with the support of the government, the Artificial Intelligence Free Employment Zone has been established as a special innovation zone," noted Khokim Kholikzoda.
He emphasized that the modern world has entered a new stage of scientific and technological development, and artificial intelligence has become one of the key areas of the digital revolution, seriously impacting the economy, education, healthcare, public administration, and everyday life.
According to Khokim Kholikzoda, significant progress is being made today by countries actively implementing artificial intelligence in healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, and public administration. Artificial intelligence is recognized as the driving force behind the global industrial revolution and a key factor in digitalization.
"According to international experts, artificial intelligence could make a significant contribution to global gross domestic product growth by 2030. Countries that create the political, economic, and humanitarian foundation for the development of artificial intelligence today will find themselves at the forefront of global development tomorrow," emphasized the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan.
