The final stage of the joint counter-terrorism exercise "Commonwealth-Antiterror 2025" involving competent authorities of the CIS countries took place at the Fakhrobod training ground in Tajikistan, according to the CIS ATC press service.
During the force phase of the exercise, special forces units of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan conducted an operation to free hostages and neutralize terrorists on a hijacked civilian aircraft and an administrative building. Simultaneously, units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations practiced actions to minimize and eliminate the consequences of terrorist attacks.
Following the completion of the force phase of the Commonwealth-Antiterror 2025 exercise, a special operation to block and destroy large illegal armed groups with a terrorist focus was conducted as part of the final stage of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) peacekeeping forces, Indestructible Brotherhood 2025.
The first stage of the "Commonwealth-Antiterror 2025" exercise took place from October 7 to 9 and included training exercises to identify and detain simulated terrorist groups planning attacks on critical infrastructure facilities and large crowds.
The CIS Anti-Terrorism Center press bureau noted that the events demonstrated the high level of combat coherence and readiness of Tajikistan's security agencies to carry out tasks to prevent acts of terrorism in a complex operational environment. CSTO peacekeeping forces demonstrated their ability to fulfill assigned peacekeeping missions in the collective security region.
This is the 21st exercise under the auspices of the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center. This is the third time such events have been held in Tajikistan. Contingents from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the exercise.
