On October 23, Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, held a meeting with the chairmen of the defense and security committees and commissions of the parliaments of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the Coordination Meeting of the Chairmen of the Defense and Security Committees (Commissions) of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. This was reported by the Office of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Faizali Idizoda noted that Tajikistan is placing special emphasis on holding this important event within the framework of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. He stated that cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Parliamentary Assembly is of paramount importance for Tajikistan.
"Security in the modern world is unthinkable without broad international cooperation. In this context, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, along with other associations—the CIS, SCO, and BRICS—demonstrates a high level of solidarity and the ability to make coordinated decisions on the most pressing issues. We believe it is essential to continue strengthening the Collective Security Treaty Organization's southern borders, enhance cooperation between our defense and law enforcement agencies, exchange information, and jointly counter all types of cross-border threats," noted Faizali Idizoda.
The Speaker of Parliament also emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan is implementing a consistent, peaceful foreign policy based on good neighborliness and mutual understanding.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of coordinating parliamentary cooperation in the field of defense and security, mechanisms for exchanging information and experience between relevant commissions, and ways to improve the effectiveness of joint actions by CSTO member countries in response to modern regional challenges and threats.
Following the meeting, it is expected that communication will continue in the format of the Coordination Meeting of the Chairmen of the Committees (Commissions) on Defense and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, with the development of practical recommendations for strengthening cooperation in the field of security.
