Dear friends, respected veterans of the Leninist Communist Youth Union of Tajikistan!
October 27, 2025, marks the 100th anniversary of our republican Komsomol organization, which played a vital role in the lives of Tajikistan's youth for decades. The Komsomol was a school of life for many generations of Tajiks—a school for the development of active citizenship, enthusiasm and dedication, leadership qualities, cultural development, and the organization of youth leisure activities. Educating young men and women in the spirit of patriotism, friendship among nations, and a willingness to serve society were the primary tasks of Komsomol members.
Although the de jure Young Communist League of Tajikistan has become a thing of the past, the spirit of youth brotherhood and romantic aspirations forged during our Komsomol youth lives on in our hearts. The centenary of the Young Communist League of Tajikistan is more than just a date on the calendar or a reason to celebrate; it is also an opportunity to reflect on its role in the lives of the younger generation and its contribution to the formation and development of the republic.
In the early years of the formation and development of the Komsomol of Tajikistan, its members actively participated in eradicating illiteracy, building factories and plants, and developing new lands. Komsomol members built cities, established collective and state farms, and built roads and irrigation canals.
The Komsomol played a special role during the Great Patriotic War. Thousands of young men and women volunteered for the front, demonstrating heroism and courage in battle against the enemy. Behind the lines, Komsomol members worked in factories and fields, providing the front with everything it needed. In the post-war years, the Komsomol pioneered many important initiatives aimed at restoring the national economy and developing culture.
The Komsomol of Tajikistan nurtured a constellation of outstanding figures in science, culture, art, and politics. They organized cultural events, sporting competitions, and educational programs that fostered youth unity and strengthened their social responsibility. Many of the country's public and cultural figures, who later became widely known, began their careers in the Komsomol.
The achievements of the Komsomol of Tajikistan in educating the younger generation were recognized with a high government award: in the year of its 50th anniversary, it was awarded the Eagle of the Red Banner of Labor.
In the late 1980s, with the onset of perestroika, the Komsomol faced new challenges. Discussions about reform began within the organization, and many young people began seeking new forms of self-expression and political activism.
With the attainment of independence in 1991, the Young Communist League of Tajikistan, like other post-Soviet countries, was reorganized into the Tajikistan Youth Union, which successfully leverages the Komsomol legacy in implementing state youth policy. Today, under the leadership of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the esteemed Emomali Rahmon, much is being done in our country to educate young people as patriots, conscientious, and active citizens.
Legislation has been developed to implement state youth policy, aimed at effectively harnessing the intellectual and spiritual potential of young people for the benefit of society. In 2004, the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Youth and State Youth Policy" was adopted, and it was revised in 2021.
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2015, the National Council on Youth Affairs under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan was established. In 2017, announced at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan
During the Year of Youth, new schools were built, dozens of sports facilities and cultural sites were erected, and hundreds of talented young professionals were promoted to responsible and high-ranking positions in various industries and government agencies.
The country is implementing the State Youth Policy Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2030, the State Program for Patriotic Education for 2023-2027, and the Program for Social Development of Youth for 2022-2026. These programs, along with educational and cultural development programs, lay the foundation for developing intellectually and physically healthy young people. The Ismoili Somoni Prize was established by a government decree for young scientists for outstanding work in science and technology. In addition to the Youth Union of Tajikistan, the children's organizations "Akhtaron" and "Sozandagoni Vatan" have been established, along with other youth and adolescent public associations that promote patriotism, social activism, and volunteerism. They actively participate in social projects aimed at addressing pressing societal challenges, such as the environment, health, education, and social protection.
Fostering patriotism and respect for Tajikistan's culture and traditions remains an important part of youth policy. Events dedicated to national holidays and historical events foster a sense of pride in one's country. Cultural events, festivals, and competitions, including sports olympiads and competitions, also contribute to youth cohesion and the development of cultural life. The Komsomol has accumulated extensive experience in many areas of government, economic, cultural, scientific, military, sports, and public life, as well as in international activities. This experience can be creatively utilized for the benefit of children and youth in modern Tajikistan. Komsomol veterans strive to provide effective assistance to the Youth Union and children's organizations in enhancing the creative activity of young people in addressing pressing economic, social, scientific, technical, cultural, and moral challenges.
Happy anniversary, dear friends, to all who stood in the ranks of the Komsomol of Tajikistan in their youth!
