There are currently 3,936 production facilities and industrial enterprises operating in Tajikistan, according to the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to statistics, the majority of operating enterprises are in the manufacturing industry—3,407 facilities, or approximately 87% of the total. This sector encompasses food production, light industry, construction materials, ore and metal processing, and other industrial activities.
There are 354 enterprises operating in the natural resource extraction sector, specializing in the extraction of minerals, coal, precious stones and other underground resources.
The electricity, gas, steam and air purification sector is represented by 72 companies providing energy resources and environmental services.
There are 103 companies involved in water supply and waste processing, reflecting the relevance of environmental issues and the need for effective industrial waste management.
The distribution of industrial enterprises by region of the republic shows a certain concentration in certain areas:

Sughd region – 1301 enterprises (33%);

Khatlon region – 897 enterprises (22.8%);

Dushanbe city – 849 enterprises (21.6%);

Districts of republican subordination – 703 enterprises (17.9%);

Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region – 186 enterprises (4.7%).
According to experts, these figures reflect the country's industrialization process, which is currently in a state of active development. Thanks to the implementation of state strategic programs, including the "Years of Industrial Development (2022–2026)," favorable conditions have been created for further strengthening industrial infrastructure and increasing the number of manufacturing enterprises.
