The UK has handed over hundreds of air defense missiles to Ukraine ahead of schedule, the British government announced on its website during a visit to Kyiv by Minister for Defence Preparedness and Industry Luke Pollard. The missiles were delivered five months ahead of schedule.
The missiles in question are light multirole missiles (LMMs), which are being produced as part of the British military support program for Ukraine. They have been used to defend the country's airspace since the Russian invasion began in February 2022.
The British government also announced a new phase of military cooperation with Ukraine: £1.6 billion will be allocated for the further integration of LMM missiles into the Ukrainian air defense system. According to Pollard, the total amount of military support to Ukraine in 2025 will reach £4.5 billion—an all-time high.
