CIS countries discussed the development of military-practical sports and methods of working with youth.

The IV Congress and XIV Plenum of the Central Council of the International Union of Voluntary Societies for Assistance to the Army, Aviation and Navy (DOSAAF) of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) were held on October 7, 2025, in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), NIAT Khovar reports, citing the State Institution "Madadgori Mudofia" ("Assistance to Defense").

Representatives from Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan participated in the events. The delegations were introduced to the work of the Vatanparvar training centers in the Samarkand and Bukhara regions, examining their infrastructure, sports sections, and youth outreach methods.

The meeting emphasized the key role of defense and sports-technical organizations in training highly qualified specialists for the Armed Forces. Participants emphasized the paramount importance of strengthening the material and technical base, developing military-practical sports, and training qualified athletes.

The congress also discussed the need for joint action by CIS countries to expand cooperation, exchange experiences, and implement mutually beneficial programs in the face of modern challenges. Particular attention was paid to patriotic education of youth, which was recognized as relevant for all defense organizations of the Commonwealth.

The International Union of Sports, Aviation, and Navy (DOSAAF CIS), founded in 1992 in Tashkent, unites Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The organization's goal is to promote the development of defense and sports training for citizens, strengthening discipline, patriotism, and military-technical literacy among young people.

As part of the program, the delegations also visited the historical and cultural monuments of Samarkand and Bukhara, learning about the military, scientific, and spiritual heritage of Uzbekistan's ancestors. The event contributed to strengthening cooperation between the CIS countries, sharing experiences, and identifying joint plans for the future.
