On October 2, during a working visit to the Temurmalik district of Khatlon region, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon opened the central stadium in the village of Kangurt, the presidential press service reported.
The facility was created with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle and attracting young people to the spot by the State Institution "Directorate for the Construction of State Facilities" of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan at a cost of more than 18 million somoni and has 6,000 seats.
Construction of a modern sports and recreation facility in the center of the village of Kangurt began in August 2022, following the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon. It continued for three years. It was built to a high standard, adhering to architectural requirements, and employing local workers and specialists.
The stadium covers an area of 13,000 square meters, with floodlights installed in the four corners of the facility for football matches.
The two-story stadium building houses 12 workrooms, as well as other auxiliary facilities, for guests, coaches, and sports commentators.
With the commissioning of the new sports facility, 10 local residents have been provided with permanent jobs.
Here, Emomali Rahmon spoke with young athletes – members of the second league football team "Surkhob" – and encouraged them to love sports and develop physically and spiritually.
It should be noted that, in order to implement the goals of Tajikistan's global initiatives to hold and organize World Football Day, modern sports facilities are being built in cities and districts across the country, laying the foundation for the development and popularization of football and a healthy lifestyle in general.
In this regard, over the past two years, 8 sports grounds, 6 sports halls and 4 state sports schools have been built and commissioned in the villages of the Temurmalik district.
Currently, as part of the State Program for the Development of Football in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2022-2026, construction is ongoing on 130 facilities in the Khatlon region, including stadiums: a 22,000-seat stadium in the Vose district, a 10,000-seat stadium in the Abdurakhmon Jami district, a 6,000-seat stadium in the Shamsiddin Shokhin district, and a modern 5,000-seat stadium in the Vakhsh district.
