Dushanbe police officers have uncovered a case of fraud related to the purchase and rental of an apartment in a residential building in the capital, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reported.
According to law enforcement, a 43-year-old Dushanbe resident gained the trust of several individuals in 2022 and received money from Kaikhon Shtan LLC for renting and then selling an 85.56-square-meter apartment in a residential building on Rudaki Street.
Thus, on November 1, 2022, the suspect, having gained the trust of a 33-year-old resident of the Rudaki district, took 13,725 US dollars from him, rented him an apartment, and then sold it to third parties, using the proceeds for personal purposes.
A similar incident occurred on September 16, 2022, when the suspect rented the same apartment to a 45-year-old resident of the Faizabad district for 263,097 somoni, after which he also sold the property to others and spent the money at his own discretion.
A criminal case has been opened against the man under Part 4 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing.
Law enforcement officials remind citizens to exercise caution when making real estate transactions and to verify the legality of all contracts. If any suspicious activity is detected, they should contact the police.
