On September 11, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon opened the State Institution "Historical and Cultural Center of Baljuvan" in the Baljuvan district after major renovations and reconstruction, the presidential press service reported.
The opening ceremony was accompanied by a warm welcome from district residents and representatives of science and culture in the Khatlon region. Restoration work at the Baljuvan Fortress began in 2019 at the initiative of the president and was completed to a high standard.
The facility, listed as a historical monument in the region, was financed by the Khatlon region budget (6,322,000 somoni) and local entrepreneurs (17,624,000 somoni). The total cost of the reconstruction was nearly 24 million somoni. The center is visited annually by domestic and international tourists and is an important cultural and educational institution in the region.
The renovated complex includes a large exhibition hall, a history museum, a library, and special areas dedicated to national culture. The exhibits include unique examples of handicrafts, antique household items, and works by researchers and writers. The center's architecture combines modern design with traditional national style, allowing for a full presentation of the rich history and culture of the Tajik people.
During his visit, Emomali Rahmon toured the center and participated in a literary and cultural program featuring artists and writers. The leader emphasized that such institutions serve as a school for national self-discovery and help the younger generation study history and appreciate the cultural heritage of their ancestors.
Residents of the district viewed the opening of the center as a significant gift in honor of the 34th anniversary of State independence and expressed their willingness to use the institution's capabilities to preserve and develop national culture and educate young people in the spirit of patriotism.
