President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian in Tianjin, the presidential press service reported .
At the beginning of the conversation, Emomali Rahmon noted the positive dynamics in the development of contacts and high-level meetings between the two countries. The parties focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation, as well as collaboration in energy, international transportation, science and innovation, agriculture, healthcare, and other areas of mutual interest.
The leaders commended the abolition of visa requirements between Tajikistan and Iran, which has facilitated the development of partnerships in tourism, trade, transport, culture, and medicine.
During the talks, the parties exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East, emphasizing its complex and volatile nature. Prospects for strengthening cooperation within international and regional organizations were also discussed.
The President of Tajikistan expressed gratitude to Iran for its support of Dushanbe's initiative to establish the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's Anti-Drug Center.
