On January 28, 2026, the first consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt took place in Cairo, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported .
The Tajik delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Farrukh Sharifzoda, and the Egyptian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Haddod Al-Jawhari. During the consultations, the parties discussed various issues related to consular relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
During the event, a Memorandum on Mutual Visa Facilitation for Holders of Diplomatic, Service, and Special Passports was signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The document aims to simplify visa procedures and develop cooperation in consular services.
The consultations marked the first official exchange of views on consular relations between the two countries and opened up new opportunities for expanding cooperation in the diplomatic, cultural, and economic spheres.
