Cotton harvesting continues in Tajikistan's southern regions, with over 21,000 hectares of cotton harvested under plastic wrap this year, according to the country's Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the agency, in 2025, farmers across the country planted 182,466 hectares of cotton, representing 97.6% of the planned volume. All available resources were utilized to achieve these targets.
In 2024, Tajikistan harvested 254,000 tons of cotton from 175,000 hectares. According to experts, last year's harvest was lower than previous years due to heavy rains in March and mid-May. Unfavorable weather conditions delayed the sowing campaign by almost 65 days, negatively impacting the yield.
Moreover, an analysis of the current season shows that farms that used film sowing technology are achieving better results.
The ministry also emphasized that modern technologies are being introduced to increase cotton yields. This year, 125 combined seeders were delivered to the republic, which will make farmers' work easier and improve the quality of their crops.
