All major work to prepare Tajikistan's transport sector for the 2025-2026 autumn-winter period must be completed as soon as possible. This was announced by Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, at a monitoring meeting on August 18 with the heads of departments and subordinate agencies and enterprises, according to the ministry's press service.
According to the Minister, preparations for the cold season are being carried out in accordance with Government Resolution No. 218 of the Republic of Tatarstan dated March 28, 2025, "On the timely preparation of economic and social sectors of the Republic for uninterrupted and effective operation during the autumn-winter period of 2025–2026." As part of this document's implementation, the Ministry of Transport has approved an "Action Plan for the Timely Preparation of the Transport Sector," established an operational headquarters and a working group, and instructed responsible industry officials to strictly implement all aspects of the plan.
Azim Ibrokhim emphasized that preparation for the autumn-winter season is a key task for the transport industry, impacting traffic stability, the smooth operation of the economy, and the comfort of the country's residents. "They say, 'Prepare your sleigh in the summer…' or 'One day of spring feeds you all winter.' These words of folk wisdom are always relevant, including in the road transport sector. The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, repeatedly reminds us of the need to prepare for the cold weather in advance," the minister noted.
The Minister of Transport also noted the abnormally hot summer of 2025 in Tajikistan, when temperatures in the southern regions reached 46 degrees Celsius. According to forecasters, the upcoming winter of 2025–2026 will be persistently cold, with continued precipitation, requiring timely preparation.
As part of the minister's instructions, all transport industry agencies and enterprises (approximately 300 facilities across the country) must complete repairs to equipment and road construction, purchase seasonal tires, batteries, spare parts, and work clothing, and ensure sufficient supplies of fuel, lubricants, and anti-slip materials. A working group will inspect the readiness of roads, road services, and infrastructure facilities for the winter season.
Azim Ibrohim emphasized: "Road safety, the smooth operation of other sectors of the economy, and the quality of life of the population depend on the preparation of the road transport sector. We have a huge responsibility on our shoulders, and we must live up to it."
Previously, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon gave instructions on preparations for the autumn-winter season at government meetings on March 27, June 30, and July 31, 2025. The head of state ordered the approval of an action plan, the creation of a National Headquarters consisting of senior ministries and department heads, and the regular monitoring of the implementation of all plan items.
