On August 14, consultations between the CIS Foreign Ministries on the topic of "Countering New Challenges and Threats" were held at the CIS headquarters, the press service of the Organization's Executive Committee reported.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS Member States, the Secretariat of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS, and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth took part in the consultations.
Participants in the consultations welcomed the dynamically developing cooperation between the CIS and other regional and subregional organizations, primarily the CSTO and the SCO, in countering new security challenges and threats, and expressed interest in deepening and expanding such cooperation.
During the consultations, an assessment of terrorist threats was given, and information was presented on areas of international counter-terrorism cooperation within the CIS and with specialized international organizations.
Particular attention is paid to issues of countering radicalization and the spread of terrorist and extremist ideology, money laundering and terrorist financing, as well as anti-drug cooperation.
An agreement was reached to continue the practice of consultations on countering new challenges and threats in 2026.
