US President Donald Trump believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be able to find a way to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, Interfax reports.
"I think President Putin will make peace, I think President Zelensky will make peace. We'll see if they can get along. And if they can, that would be wonderful," the White House chief told reporters.
He noted that if "we can achieve an end to hostilities, we will be very happy."
Trump added that a meeting with the Ukrainian president and the Russian president should be organized quickly.
"Tomorrow, I want to set the stage for the next meeting, which is scheduled to take place soon. I want it to happen very quickly," the White House chief told reporters.
He noted that perhaps the trilateral meeting could also be held in Alaska, because "it would be much easier" to organize.
The US President stated that some European leaders could also take part in a possible meeting between him, Putin, and Zelensky.
"We'll then have a meeting with President Putin, President Zelensky, myself, and maybe some Europeans," Trump said.
He noted that he hopes the meeting with Putin will be successful, but believes that "the second meeting we will hold ( with Zelensky's participation – IF ) will be more important."
