On the night of August 7, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive drone attack on Ukrainian territory. The Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions were targeted in particular. The attacks resulted in civilian casualties, according to the Ukrainian side.
According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration (RMA), four people were injured in drone strikes in Dnipro. Two of them—a 43-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman—were hospitalized in moderate condition. Multiple fires also broke out in the city, including in administrative buildings.
According to Lysak, 12 cars were completely burned in Dnipro, and another 17 were damaged. Eight residential buildings were partially destroyed, and one was completely destroyed. A transport company was also damaged. The Ukrainian Air Force reported intercepting 33 drones in the skies over the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Attacks were also recorded in other towns and villages in the region, including Pavlohrad, Kryvyi Rih, and the Sinelnyky, Nikopol, and Kryvyi Rih districts. Public buildings, including a lyceum and a library, were damaged.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast: one victim
A 62-year-old woman died as a result of a strike on a residential area in the town of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Special Operations Forces, the Russian army struck a private home with a multiple launch rocket system (MLRS). Another house in the town of Orekhov was also damaged, and rescue efforts are currently ongoing.
"There's a possibility that there are people under the rubble. Rescuers are clearing the rubble, and emergency services are working," Fedorov said on the national telethon.
Ukrainian Armed Forces: Russia used more than 100 drones
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that Russia used 112 drones during the overnight attack, including Shahed-type attack drones and various imitations. Of these, 89 were shot down or suppressed by air defense systems. The remaining 23 drones reached targets in 11 Ukrainian towns. Debris was also recorded falling in three locations.
The drones were allegedly launched from the Kursk region, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Krasnodar Krai), and from annexed Crimea – from Cape Chauda and the Gvardeyskoye airfield.
