In Tajikistan, two minors drowned in water accidents in two days. According to the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, both incidents occurred in different regions of the country due to a lack of parental supervision and swimming in unauthorized areas.
On August 3, an eight-year-old boy drowned while swimming in the Isfara River in the Khonobod jamoat of Isfara. The tragedy occurred during the day. According to preliminary reports, the child was unaccompanied by an adult near the river. The search for the boy's body lasted approximately two hours. Rescue personnel and local residents participated in the search. The boy's body was later discovered two kilometers downstream and handed over to the appropriate authorities.
Another tragic incident occurred the day before, on August 2, in the capital. A 12-year-old resident of Dushanbe drowned in the Great Gissar Canal in the Obodkoron neighborhood. The child's body was discovered only the following day, August 3, approximately one kilometer from the scene.
The Emergency Situations Committee urges parents and guardians not to leave children unattended, especially near bodies of water. The agency reminds that swimming in unauthorized areas poses a serious threat to life and health.
