As a result of operational activities carried out by the officers of the OMVD-1 in the Shokhmansur district of Dushanbe, a case of theft of money from a taxi driver was uncovered. This was reported by the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Dushanbe.
According to the press service of the department, a 22-year-old resident of the capital, Oripov Shokhin, is suspected of committing the crime and was detained in the shortest possible time. The investigation showed that on July 29 of this year, the suspect, using the services of a private taxi, quietly stole the driver's wallet when he got out of the car.
Inside the wallet were cash in the amount of 1,980 somoni, as well as a bank card, from which another 9,200 somoni were subsequently withdrawn. The total amount of damage caused was 11,180 somoni.
The crime was solved thanks to a video surveillance system installed in the car, the recordings from which helped to identify the suspect and confirm the fact of theft. Currently, a criminal case has been opened on this fact, and a preliminary investigation is underway.
The Internal Affairs Directorate strongly recommends that drivers, as well as owners of service centers and taxi companies, install video surveillance cameras in their cars and at work sites. This not only helps prevent offenses, but also increases the overall level of security and property safety.
