On July 30, 2025, the 10th Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States was held in Kunming, China, under the chairmanship of Han Jun, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the press service of the Organization reported.
In his greeting at the opening ceremony, the head of the People's Government of Yunnan Province, Wang Youbo, emphasized the role of agriculture in ensuring the sustainable development of the SCO countries.
The delegates had a thorough exchange of views on issues of improving agricultural policy, rural development, cooperation in poverty reduction, trade and economic cooperation, and scientific and technological exchanges.
Speaking at the event, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Suhel Khan noted that the Organization's member states consistently advocate for strengthening cooperation, diversifying its areas with an emphasis on innovation, resource conservation and establishing exchanges in the field of agricultural science.
Following the meeting, a Joint Statement was adopted. The document is aimed at further strengthening mutually beneficial ties in the field of agriculture, promoting trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation, and ensuring food security.
In addition, the meeting program included a Dialogue on agricultural policy with the participation of representatives of the SCO dialogue partner countries – Egypt, Cambodia and Myanmar.
