The next meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Minsk, where the results of the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan in the CIS in the first half of 2025 were summed up. This was reported by the Embassy of Tajikistan in the Republic of Belarus.
The main report was delivered by the Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS Bakhtovar Safarzoda. He noted that Dushanbe's chairmanship was held in the spirit of constructive interaction and strengthening of integration processes in the Commonwealth.
According to the diplomat, key meetings of the Council of Heads of Government, the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Economic Council, as well as more than 60 expert events were held during the reporting period under the auspices of Tajikistan's chairmanship. The CIS sectoral cooperation bodies held 24 meetings, during which more than 250 issues related to various areas of interaction were considered.
Particular attention was paid to foreign policy coordination: within the framework of the presidency, seven consultations were organized on topics such as human rights, international economic diplomacy, disarmament and humanitarian cooperation. In the area of security, important documents were approved, in particular on issues of a joint communications system of the armed forces, as well as on radiation and biological control.
In the humanitarian sphere, major projects have been implemented, including the initiatives "Lachin – Cultural Capital of the CIS", "Ganja – Sports Capital" and "Gabala – Youth Capital". The Forum of Volunteers of the CIS Countries was also held and the Concept of Cooperation in the Field of Healthcare was approved.
In the field of economics and ecology, documents on cooperation in heavy engineering were signed, and an International Conference on Glacier Conservation was organized with the adoption of the Dushanbe Declaration. An important step was the promotion of the Tajik project on the digitalization of intermodal transport corridors, prepared in cooperation with the relevant UN commissions.
For the first time within the CIS, the honorary title “City of Labor Glory. 1941–1945” was established, which received broad support from the meeting participants.
In conclusion of his speech, Bakhtovar Safarzoda confirmed Tajikistan’s readiness to continue active work to strengthen integration, regional security and sustainable development throughout the CIS.
The meeting participants also discussed issues of information support for the activities of the Commonwealth and the content of the agendas of the upcoming meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Heads of Government and the Council of Heads of State of the CIS.
