In the first six months of 2025, 456,835 tourists arrived in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, which is 60% of the total number of foreign and domestic guests who visited the republic during this period. This was reported on July 25 at a press conference of the Executive Authority of the city of Dushanbe.
According to the agency, over 760 thousand tourists entered Tajikistan through all border checkpoints in January-June of this year, which is 181 thousand people, or 31 percent more than in the same period last year. Of these, more than 96.5 thousand people arrived in Dushanbe from abroad through the international airport and railway stations. This is 28.6 thousand people more than in the first half of 2024.
As noted in official documents, including the “Strategy for Tourism Development in the Republic of Tajikistan until 2030,” Dushanbe has significant tourism potential and a modern infrastructure that facilitates the development of the industry. According to city administration officials, the steady growth in tourist flow indicates an improvement in the quality of service and a strengthening of the capital’s image as an attractive tourist destination.
Currently, there are more than 2,500 tourist and service infrastructure facilities operating in Dushanbe, providing services to both foreign and domestic tourists. Considerable attention is paid to the improvement of the city, landscaping, expansion of park areas and development of public transport. Thus, modern bus stops and a cashless payment system in public transport have been introduced in the capital.
Successes in the tourism sector are also associated with the implementation of initiatives of the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the city of Dushanbe Rustami Emomali, aimed at the sustainable development of the capital, improving living conditions and increasing the level of tourism services.
The city of Dushanbe continues to attract the attention of both foreign guests and citizens of the country due to its cleanliness, tranquility, modern buildings, green streets and developed infrastructure.
