In Tajikistan, the number of registered drug addicts decreased by 1.6% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. This was announced at a press conference by the Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zafar Samad.
According to his data, there are 4,002 people registered in the country with a diagnosis of drug addiction (in 2024, there were 4,066). At the same time, 178 citizens were diagnosed for the first time. On average, there are 40 drug addicts per 100,000 people – one of the lowest rates in the world.
It is also reported that 3 tons 107 kg of narcotics have been seized from illegal circulation in the first six months of this year, which is 10 kg more than a year earlier. Of these, more than 1.4 tons were seized by the State Committee for National Security, over a ton by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the rest by other agencies. The amount of seized psychotropic substances has increased by 85%, amounting to 155 kg.
