A 43-year-old man has been detained in Penjikent on suspicion of driving his wife to suicide. This was reported on July 23 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
According to the investigation, the man had been married to a 34-year-old woman since 2011 and had been subjecting her to psychological violence for many years, including regular threats and humiliation. This had a negative impact on the victim's psycho-emotional state.
On July 14, after yet another quarrel with her husband, the woman committed suicide by jumping into the Zarafshon River in the village of Amondara. Her body was found some time later.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan (incitement to suicide). An investigation is underway.
