At least five people were killed and more than ten others were injured in air strikes carried out by Russian armed forces on Friday night in Ukraine, regional and military administrations in Ukraine reported.
According to the statement of the Ukrainian Air Force, 35 Shahed attack drones and various types of drone imitators were launched into the country. Ukrainian air defense destroyed 11 of them, but direct hits were recorded in five locations.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region , in the Kamensky district, two people were killed and several others were injured. In the Pavlograd district, one person was killed in an attack and two were injured, said the head of the OVA, Serhiy Lysak.
In the Zaporizhia region , according to the head of the regional military administration Ivan Fedorov, as a result of an attack on a residential building in the Stepnogorsk community, a 64-year-old man died.
In Donetsk Oblast, three people were injured when a drone attacked a volunteer car evacuating citizens from Rodinskoye. In Konstantinovka, a woman was killed and a man was injured by a dropped FAB-250 aerial bomb.
In Chuguev, Kharkiv region, four people were injured as a result of UAV strikes, residential buildings and an educational institution building were destroyed, said the city's head, Galina Minaeva.
In Kherson, a drone attacked a car in which the chief rabbi of the city and region, Yosef Yitzhak Wolf, was with his family. There were no casualties, the United Jewish Community of Ukraine reported.
Response from the Russian Ministry of Defense
The Russian Defense Ministry, in turn, reported repelling a massive attack by Ukrainian drones. According to the department, during the night, Russian air defense destroyed 73 Ukrainian drones over various regions of the country, including three that were heading to Moscow. Eleven of them were shot down over the Moscow Region: in Domodedovo, Krasnogorsk, Solnechnogorsk, Sergiev Posad, and Mozhaisk. According to Governor Andrei Vorobyov, there were no casualties, but damage to private homes was recorded.
Due to the threat of an attack, Vnukovo Airport temporarily suspended the reception and departure of flights. The restrictions lasted for about three hours, during which time 20 flights were redirected to alternate airfields, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported.
