Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova addressed the people of Kazakhstan regarding attacks on medical workers, Tengrinews.kz reports.
Akmaral Alnazarova published a post on Instagram and addressed Kazakhstanis as "a former maternity hospital nurse, as a doctor in the emergency room of a children's hospital, on duty and as a resident."
"Stop violence against medical workers! It is impossible to imagine the pain and humiliation, the helplessness and fear of the doctor and nurse who are saving your children, parents and loved ones, at the moment of unbridled, unjustified aggression," she wrote.
The head of the Ministry of Health recalled the two most recent cases of attacks on medical workers – in Karaganda and Kostanay. According to her, legislative changes to toughen penalties for attacks on medical workers will be submitted to Parliament in September.
"In connection with the increasing number of attacks on medical workers, together with the Minister of Internal Affairs, we came to the decision to immediately strengthen the round-the-clock posts in the emergency rooms of hospitals, children's and perinatal centers. Medical institutions must be provided with security measures – video surveillance, security, panic buttons," added Alnazarova.
Let us recall that earlier in Karaganda a patient attacked a doctor at a private clinic. The incident took place right in the building of the medical institution and was captured on video, which quickly spread across social networks.
Another case of an attack on a doctor occurred in Kostanay. A surgeon was brutally beaten in a regional hospital. The doctor lost consciousness from a blow from a patient, simply because the latter did not want to wait his turn. The doctor is currently in intensive care. His condition is serious.
