This year, farmers in the city of Kulyab planted cotton under film cover for the first time on an area of 130 hectares, the Executive Authority of State Authority of Kulyab reported. The total area of cotton sowing was 2995 hectares.
According to experts, cotton crops have not yet been watered; the irrigation process is planned to begin in 15–20 days.
The technology of planting cotton under film has a number of advantages. Among them is the absence of the need to plant seedlings and carry out inter-row cultivation. In areas covered with polyethylene film, cotton seeds retain moisture better, the soil remains loose and does not compact, which contributes to better plant development and saving resources, including seeds and water.
Also, to ensure cotton growth, mineral fertilizers are supplied in a timely manner through water pipes directly to the seedlings, which increases the efficiency of their use.
This innovative method of cotton cultivation in Kulyab is aimed at increasing the yield and quality of products, as well as optimizing water and material resources.
