A final meeting was held in the city of Levakant in the Khatlon region to summarize the results of the activities of the Education Department of the Khatlon region for the first half of 2025, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.
The event was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan Khoshimzoda Khomid, Deputy Chairman of the Khatlon Region Abdusalomzoda Anzurat, Head of the Regional Education Department Ziyodullo Abdulzoda, Chairman of the Regional Trade Union of Education and Science Workers Shirinzoda Mukhiddin, employees of the department, heads of district and city education departments, as well as directors of general education, preschool and extracurricular institutions.
The main report was given by the head of the regional Education Department, Ziyodullo Abdulzoda, who presented a detailed report on the results of work in the first half of the current year.
As noted, in the first six months of 2025, 21 new educational institutions were built and put into operation in various districts of the region, including 120 classrooms designed for 3,000 seats in one shift and 6,000 seats in two shifts.
The number of preschool institutions has increased to 177, with 21,319 children studying. In addition, 84,144 children are studying in 1,268 children's development centers. Thus, the coverage of preschool education is 105,463 children, which is equivalent to 24.7% of the total number of preschool-age children.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, 900,598 schoolchildren studied in general education institutions of the region, of which 803,184 (99.6%) took part in the final assessment of the fourth quarter. At the end of the year, the level of knowledge acquisition was 99.8%, and the knowledge quality indicator was 57.4%.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 3, 2006, No. 197, concerning the provision of benefits to young teachers. According to the data presented, since 2007, more than 3,394 young teachers have received land plots and preferential loans. In 2025 alone, 123 young specialists took advantage of this state support.
After the main report, the head of the education department of the Kubodiyon district, Sadullo Mirzoyev, and the director of the Orieno lyceum, Shakhlo Nasrulloyeva, spoke and highly praised the results of the department’s activities for the reporting period.
During the meeting, the floor was given to the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Khoshimzoda Khomid. He spoke in detail about the issues of preparation for specialized and universal certification, improving the quality of education, training qualified personnel, and developing educational infrastructure.
Deputy Chairman of the Khatlon Region Abdusalomzoda Anzurat outlined key issues and priorities in the education sector in her speech. The areas voiced included improving the qualifications of teachers, digitalization of the education system, renovation of educational institutions, active involvement of students in Olympiads and competitions, preventing obstacles to girls getting an education, combating superstitions, preventing antisocial behavior among minors, preventing early marriages, and strengthening the political and legal literacy of teachers.
In conclusion, the meeting participants were given specific instructions to eliminate the identified shortcomings and further improve the region’s educational system.
