In the first six months of 2026, 121,810 children were born in Tajikistan. Compared to the same period last year, the number of newborns increased by more than 1,100. This was reported by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan at a press conference summarizing the agency's performance in the first half of 2026.
According to preliminary statistics, 120,673 babies were born in the republic from January to June 2025. This represents an increase of 1,137 births over the past year.

The Ministry also reported on the epidemiological situation in the country. As of the first half of this year, Tajikistan has recorded no cases of a number of dangerous infectious diseases, including typhoid fever, cholera, plague, dysentery, rabies, polio, and leptospirosis.
The department attributes this to the implementation of a range of preventive, diagnostic, and restrictive measures.
Over six months, specialists conducted 4,162 sanitary and epidemiological inspections at various sites across the country. Administrative violation reports were issued against 5,734 responsible individuals for violating sanitary standards and sanitary and epidemiological requirements.
