Officers from the Customs Offenses Department of the Dushanbe Regional Customs Administration, together with employees of the Dushanbe International Airport customs post, uncovered the illegal import of a counterfeit vehicle registration plate into the Republic of Tajikistan. This was reported by the press service of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, on June 12, 2026, during inspections aimed at preventing and identifying instances of illegal import and export of goods through Dushanbe International Airport, the luggage of passenger Ekaterina Sharifova, born in 1976, on flight No. 202 en route Moscow to Dushanbe, was inspected.
During the inspection, a set of state registration plates of the Republic of Tajikistan with the number “TJ 0888 DM 01” was found in the luggage.

According to the conclusion of the Republican Center for Forensic Expertise and Criminalistics of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan, the seized license plate is not genuine. Experts determined that it differs from official license plates issued by State Automobile Inspectorate units in terms of the quality of the metal, the arrangement of letters and numbers, the holographic protection, the absence of a barcode on the back, and other security features.
Taking into account the established circumstances and based on the collected materials, on June 25, 2026, the Transport Prosecutor's Office of Tajikistan opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 212¹ of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The criminal case has been sent to the Department of Internal Affairs for Transport at Dushanbe International Airport for preliminary investigation.
