During an investigative operation, officers from the Khatlon Region Ministry of Internal Affairs' Investigation Department detained Nazokat Karakhonova, a 62-year-old resident of Balkhuvon Street in the Vakhsh District, suspected of witchcraft and fortune-telling. This was reported by the Khatlon Region Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the agency, the woman offered clients services to "cool" and "restore" relationships between men and women, "discover fate," "solve business problems," and other types of pseudo-magical services.
Police established that, despite knowing that such activities were prohibited in Tajikistan, Karakhonova used a new method to find clients. Orders for rituals were accepted via WhatsApp, after which she traveled to the clients' homes, stores, or work sites.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, she performed rituals of "fortune telling," "opening the way to business and trade," "strengthening family relationships," and other similar rituals on the spot.
The cost of such services ranged from 50 to 500 somoni.
An administrative protocol was drawn up against Karakhanova under Article 482 of the Code of the Republic of Tajikistan on Administrative Offenses, which provides for liability for activities related to misleading citizens.
By the court's decision, the woman was sentenced to an administrative fine of 6,240 somoni.
