On June 24, the latest meeting of the Local Education Group (LEG) was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dushanbe. The event was attended by Tajikistan's Minister of Education and Science, Rahim Saidzoda, along with ministry leadership and representatives of international organizations and development partners, according to the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Participants in the meeting included Trine Petersen, Head of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Regional Office for Tajikistan, Radoslaw Darski, Ambassador of the European Union to Tajikistan, Eri Dwivedi, Deputy Head of the UNICEF Office in Tajikistan, as well as heads of the Ministry's structural divisions, subordinate agencies, and representatives of partner organizations.

Opening the meeting, Rahim Saidzoda noted that in recent years, the Local Education Group has become an important platform for coordinating interactions between the Ministry of Education and Science and development partners. He stated that this mechanism plays a significant role in advancing sectoral reforms, attracting investment, and implementing state education policy.

The Minister also emphasized that, thanks to the ongoing support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, education remains a priority area of the state's social policy. The country is consistently implementing measures to improve the quality of education, develop preschool education, strengthen the capacity of teachers, implement modern technologies, and digitalize the sector.

During the meeting, participants discussed the implementation of public investment projects in education, new funding opportunities within the framework of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE 2030) initiatives, the current state of sector funding, and the existing financial resource gap. They also discussed the preparation of the Medium-Term Education Development Plan for 2027–2030 and the implementation of the second phase of the project "Support for the Implementation of the National Education Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan."

Special attention was paid to modernizing the educational structure and improving the system of methodological support for teachers. Participants exchanged views on strengthening the professional potential of teachers and improving the quality of education.

Representatives of development partners and relevant agencies also made proposals to strengthen coordination of activities, effectively use financial resources, expand international cooperation, and support reforms in the education sector.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to continue constructive cooperation and the joint implementation of priority programs and projects. Participants emphasized that strengthening partnerships and coordinating joint efforts are essential for ensuring high-quality education and the sustainable development of the country's education system.
