Police officers have uncovered a case of extortion against a resident of the Yavan district, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, during the course of operational investigative activities, it was established that Kh.I., a resident of the Sino district of Dushanbe, born in 1992, acted together with an accomplice who is currently wanted.
Investigators believe the perpetrators extorted property from Sh.A., a resident of the Yavansky District. Under the pretext that the victim had allegedly committed sexual assault against a minor, they demanded that he hand over the documents for his residential building.
In exchange, the suspects promised to prevent the man from being charged with a crime or taken into custody.
Law enforcement agencies determined that after obtaining the property documents, the perpetrators sold the house to a third party for 115,000 somoni. Investigators believe they used the proceeds for personal gain.
An investigation is underway. One of the suspects has been detained, and the other is wanted.
