The 9th meeting of the Coordinating Committee on Field Training under the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Moscow. The event took place at the International Military Center of the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the defense ministries of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS Member States.
During the workshop, participants examined the use of unmanned aerial vehicles and ground-based robotic systems during special military operations. Special attention was paid to the methods and specifics of training unmanned systems specialists, as well as preparing units to perform countermeasures against technologies using wireless data transmission and fiber-optic control.
Russian Deputy Minister of Defense, General of the Army Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, noted that holding meetings of the Coordination Committee since 2018 allows for the discussion of the most pressing issues related to the combat training of the national armed forces and the exchange of experience gained during modern armed conflicts.
Lieutenant General Yuri Dashkin, Secretary of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS Member States, stated that the meeting was taking place against the backdrop of a tense military and political situation. He noted that the range of national security threats facing the Commonwealth continues to expand, and the armed conflict in the Middle East has demonstrated the dependence of national security on the combat readiness of the armed forces and the professional training of military personnel.
The Coordination Committee's practical work took place at the Inter-Service Regional Training Center. A training and methodological meeting was held there with heads of combat training agencies and specialists in the training and use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Participants were introduced to the center's activities, its educational and material resources, and its junior specialist training facilities. They also studied best practices in the use of engineering weapons and unmanned systems in combat missions.
At the end of their work, members of the Coordination Committee honored the memory of Soviet soldiers who died defending Stalingrad and laid wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame in the Hall of Military Glory on Mamayev Kurgan.
