Japan's remilitarization is not only a turn back but also a road to nowhere, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Monday.
Guo Jiakun made this statement at a regular press briefing in response to a question on the matter, noting that the Japanese invaders, who carried out large-scale and inhumane experiments on humans and conducted bacteriological warfare, will be forever etched in the history of mankind.
The diplomat noted that the Khabarovsk Trial of 1949 left behind numerous original audio recordings, verbatim reports, and physical evidence, which formed a complete chain of evidence irrefutably proving the Japanese military's crimes in the field of biological warfare. This trial served as a continuation and completion of what was left unfinished during the Tokyo Trial. Today, new evidence continues to reveal the atrocities of Japanese militarism, and more and more people, including the Japanese themselves, are learning about this dark and brutal chapter of history, the Chinese Foreign Ministry official added.
Guo Jiakun emphasized that only by respecting the verdict of history and facts, filling historical gaps, and firmly maintaining the lower limit of peace can we prevent a repetition of the tragedy of war.
"We call on Japan to sincerely reconsider its guilt for the war of aggression, finally break with militarism, and earn the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community through real actions," the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry concluded.
