On June 11, 2026, the US military reported the resumption of strikes against targets in Iran. US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the attacks were in response to Tehran's ongoing actions, which Washington called unjustified aggression.
According to a CENTCOM statement, the operation began on the evening of June 10 at 5:15 PM Eastern Time. Shortly before, US President Donald Trump announced new strikes on Iran. Following his announcement, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also warned of the possibility of further attacks, noting that their goal was not to resume war, but to create the conditions for reaching an agreement.
According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, explosions were recorded near the cities of Minab and Sirik. Simultaneously, explosions were reported near the airport and military base in Bandar Abbas on the Persian Gulf coast, as well as in the port city of Gorgan.
In response to the new strikes, Iran, according to media reports, attacked American military bases in the Persian Gulf and Jordan, including with ballistic missiles. The Kuwaiti army reported activating its air defenses. Air raid sirens were also sounded again in Bahrain.
Amid the escalating situation, the Iranian military announced a complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all types of vessels. According to the Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces (Hazrat Khatam al-Anbiya), the restrictions apply to both oil tankers and commercial vessels.
The headquarters' statement noted that the decision was made for security reasons and in response to US actions. Iranian military officials warned that any passage through the strait would be prosecuted.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' naval forces also announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until further notice. The statement issued emphasized that ships should not leave their moorings in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and that approaching the Strait of Hormuz would be considered collaboration with the enemy.
Earlier, US Central Command reported the beginning of strikes on targets in Iran. According to Iranian media, powerful explosions occurred in six districts of the country.
