Afghan authorities announced that Pakistani forces launched airstrikes in three provinces. According to Afghan officials, the attacks killed 13 people, including 11 children. Another 14 were wounded.
The Afghan Supreme Leader's spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, issued a statement. He stated that Pakistani forces violated the country's airspace and struck civilian homes in Kunar, Khost, and Paktika provinces.
According to an Afghan government spokesman, the strikes targeted civilian areas. A corresponding statement was published on the social media site X.
At the same time, Pakistani authorities did not officially report any strikes on Afghan territory and did not comment on the Afghan side's statements.
Relations between the two countries have remained tense since 2021, when the Taliban movement came to power in Afghanistan. Islamabad accuses the Afghan government of providing sanctuary to militants from several terrorist organizations, which, according to the Pakistani side, regularly carry out attacks on Pakistani territory.
In February 2026, the situation between the two countries escalated further. Following airstrikes, Afghanistan launched a military operation against Pakistan.
According to the United Nations, several hundred civilians were killed between January and March 2026 as a result of the escalation of the conflict.
