The expert group meeting to approve the draft Decision of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers on the basic organization of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the retraining and advanced training of personnel in the field of forensic activities took place on May 29, 2026, at the headquarters of the CIS, the press service of the Executive Committee of the Organization reports.
The meeting was attended by experts from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the CIS Executive Committee.
Taking into account the comments and suggestions received from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, the meeting participants finalized and agreed on the draft Decision.
The materials of the expert group meeting will be sent to the Commonwealth states for internal approval, after which, if there are no comments or suggestions, the draft documents will be submitted for consideration by the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in accordance with the established procedure.
As a reminder, the status of the basic organization of the Commonwealth of Independent States member states for the retraining and advanced training of personnel in the field of forensic activities is planned to be granted to the state educational institution "Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel of the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus."
The Institute is the only institution in the Republic of Belarus for continuing adult education, providing retraining and advanced training for forensic experts. It comprises four departments: forensic medicine; forensic psychiatry and psychology; forensic criminalistic examinations; and forensic technical and specialized examinations. It offers training programs in more than 20 different areas of forensic examination.
During the Institute's operation, over 10,000 forensic experts from not only Belarus, but also from expert agencies in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam have undergone retraining and advanced training.
As a core organization, the Institute will be responsible for advanced training of forensic personnel for CIS agencies and for coordinating the development of educational program models tailored to their needs. Its responsibilities will also include expert review and participation in drafting documents for adoption within the CIS within the core organization's purview, conducting scientific and practical events on relevant topics, and publishing and distributing scientific, educational, and informational/analytical materials in its areas of expertise.
