A meeting of finance ministers and central (national) bank chairmen of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held in Bishkek. A delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the meeting, NIAT Khovar reported, citing the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Tajik delegation included the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Faiziddin Kahhorzoda and the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Ikromi.
The meeting participants discussed current issues of financial and investment cooperation, as well as measures to strengthen the macroeconomic stability of SCO member states.
In his speech, Faiziddin Kakhhorzoda emphasized the importance of further expanding financial cooperation within the Organization. He noted that in 2025, Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover with SCO countries amounted to $9.6 billion, while the total investment of SCO member states in the country's economy from 2007 to 2026 exceeded $16.7 billion.
Sirojiddin Ikromi informed the participants about the current macroeconomic situation in the country and the measures taken to ensure financial stability.
It was noted that economic growth is 8 percent, and the inflation rate remains within 3.6 percent.
The Tajik side advocated for intensifying efforts to establish the SCO Development Bank, forming a unified portfolio of priority investment projects in energy, transport, logistics, digital infrastructure, and the green economy, as well as expanding cooperation in sustainable financing and the implementation of climate initiatives.
The digitalization of the financial sector and further strengthening of cooperation between financial agencies and central banks of SCO member states were also discussed.
On the sidelines of the meeting, bilateral meetings were held between the Tajik delegation and the heads of delegations from Kyrgyzstan, China, and Iran. Issues of further developing cooperation in the financial and economic spheres, as well as interaction within the SCO, were discussed.
Following the meeting, a corresponding Protocol was signed.
