From May 15 to 22, students from the State Institution "Lyceum for Gifted Students of Dushanbe" participated in the Second Open International Biology Olympiad (OIBO-2026), which was held in the Sirius Federal Territory of Sochi, Russia.
More than 100 schoolchildren from 17 countries took part in the Olympiad, including Tajikistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Venezuela, Turkey, Thailand, South Africa, Myanmar, Ossetia, Abkhazia, and Cambodia.
Tajikistan was represented at the international Olympiad by students from the State Institution "Lyceum for Gifted Students of Dushanbe" – Roshiddin Shokirov, Musharraf Zoirova, and Tokhir Nozimi.
Following the results of the intellectual competitions in the theoretical and practical rounds, 11th-grade students of the lyceum, Roshiddin Shokirov and Musharraf Zoirova, took third place.
In addition, a team of schoolchildren from Tajikistan won a gold medal in the project round, presenting a scientific project on "Determining the Sex of Rainbow Trout Using Genetic Analysis."

As noted, the jury highly praised the project for its scientific content, novelty, and environmental significance.
The report emphasizes that such achievements are made possible by the growing attention of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to the field of education and the ongoing support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan in developing the intellectual abilities of adolescents and young people.
Creating favorable conditions for participation in international Olympiads, training gifted students, and supporting scientific initiatives are among the measures that contribute to enhancing the authority of national education in the international arena.
The Lyceum administration described this victory as the result of the hard work of students, teachers, parents, and the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan.
