On May 18, 2026, a ceremony was held at the Donskoy Cemetery in Moscow to hand over capsules containing soil from the burial sites of Tajikistan's heroes, Nusratullo Makhsum and Shirinsho Shotemur, as well as the outstanding son of the Tajik people, Nisor Muhammad.
The Tajik delegation was led by Tajikistan's Foreign Minister, Sirodjiddin Mukhriddin. The Russian side was represented at the event by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and Special Presidential Representative for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoi. The ceremony featured honor guards from Tajikistan and Russia.

As noted during the event, the collection and delivery of symbolic soil from the burial sites was carried out by direct order of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. This step is seen as part of the state's policy of restoring historical justice and preserving national memory.
It was noted that the ceremony symbolizes the spiritual connection of historical figures with the Motherland, to which they dedicated their lives and service to the people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin stated that Nusratullo Makhsum and Shirinsho Shotemur demonstrated strong political will in the 1920s and 1930s and defended the Tajik people's right to development and national identity. He also noted that Nisor Muhammad made a significant contribution to the state's cultural and educational development.
The head of the Tajik Foreign Ministry emphasized that the ideas and legacy of these individuals have stood the test of time. He recalled that by decree of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Nusratullo Makhsum and Shirinsho Shotemur were posthumously awarded the highest state title, "Hero of Tajikistan."
Sirojiddin Mukhriddin also expressed gratitude to the Russian government, the Moscow administration and everyone who helped organize the ceremony.

In their speeches, Mikhail Galuzin and Mikhail Shvydkoy emphasized the importance of restoring historical justice in connection with the return of soil from the graves of heroes to the Motherland. They noted the contribution of these individuals to the establishment of the Republic of Tajikistan within the Soviet Union and stated that the transfer of the capsules containing the soil would contribute to strengthening the fraternal ties between the peoples of the two countries, as well as the further development of friendly and allied relations.
The capsules containing the soil are expected to be delivered to Dushanbe on May 19, 2026. They will subsequently become part of the national memorial complex as a symbol of the continuity of generations and the connection between the country's historical past and its present and future.
