On May 18, 2026, Tajikistan Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, who was on a working visit to the Russian Federation, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
The head of the Tajik Foreign Ministry's visit to Russia is connected with the ceremony of handing over capsules containing soil from the burial sites of Tajik heroes Nusratullo Makhsum, Shirinshhoh Shokhtemur, and the outstanding son of the Tajik people, Nisor Muhammad.
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for further development of Tajik-Russian cooperation, focusing on key areas of bilateral interaction.


The heads of the foreign ministries also exchanged views on current issues on the international and regional agendas, including topics of mutual interest to Dushanbe and Moscow.
As noted by the Tajik Foreign Ministry, during the conversation, the ministers "synchronized notes" on a number of international issues, confirming their commitment to continuing close cooperation within the framework of the strategic partnership and allied relations between the two states.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to strengthening political dialogue, developing interstate contacts, and further expanding cooperation in various areas.
The negotiations took place in a traditionally friendly and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the high level of relations between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.
