Rustami Emomali, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan and Mayor of Dushanbe, met with Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), who is in Tajikistan to participate in the FAO Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Tajikistan's cooperation with the United Nations and its institutions, including the Food and Agriculture Organization.
Rustami Emomali expressed satisfaction with the organization's ongoing support for Tajikistan's efforts to implement national sustainable development priorities.


The holding of the Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for Europe and Central Asia in Dushanbe was called a favorable opportunity to strengthen international dialogue and coordinate efforts to ensure food security and sustainable development.
The parties also focused on issues of adaptation to climate change, sustainable land management, forest protection, and support for a green economy.
In addition, the importance of expanding cooperation in the areas of plant protection and biodiversity, phytosanitary security, the development of sustainable production systems, the implementation of innovative technologies, and the digitalization of the industry was emphasized.

The parties expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation in developing agricultural potential, supporting small farms, expanding exports, and attracting investment in the agri-food sector.
Rustam Emomali also expressed gratitude to the organization's Director General for the establishment of a Tajikistan corner at the FAO headquarters, as well as the inclusion of the Hissar sheep breed and the Toifi grape variety from the Almosi Gorge on the Register of Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems.
During the conversation, Tajikistan's readiness to continue fruitful cooperation with the organization in priority areas was confirmed.
