China's Foreign Ministry: Taiwan Region is ineligible to participate in the World Health Assembly

The Chinese region of Taiwan has no basis, reason, or right to participate in the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA), which opens on May 18, without the consent of the central government. This was stated on Monday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun.

According to him, in order to uphold the one-China principle, as well as the integrity and authority of the relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly and the WHA, China has decided not to approve the participation of the Taiwan region in the WHA this year.
