On January 27, 2026, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation Davlatshoh Gulmahmadzoda took part in a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and ambassadors of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Tajik Foreign Ministry reported .
The event was also attended by the Secretaries General of the CIS, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Eurasian Economic Union.
During the meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted the effectiveness of Tajikistan's chairmanship of the CIS in 2025 and expressed support for Turkmenistan's chairmanship in 2026. According to the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the results of joint work by CIS member states in 2025 were discussed and steps to further strengthen foreign policy coordination were outlined.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed measures to expand cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as issues of joint work in the field of security.
During the event, diplomats exchanged views on current issues on the regional and international agenda.
