Since the beginning of 2026, Russian troops have carried out 217 attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities . Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on Wednesday, February 4, following a meeting on the emergency situation in the country's energy sector.
According to the head of government, attacks on the power grid continue to be systematic, leading to serious disruptions in heat and electricity supplies in several regions. The Ukrainian authorities note that the most critical situation remains in the capital and the northeast of the country.
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the situation is particularly dire in Kyiv and Kharkiv , as well as in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava regions . He added that significant difficulties also persist in other regions of the central part of the country.
"The situation is also difficult in other regions of central Ukraine, particularly in the Dnipro and Cherkasy regions," the president emphasized.
More than 1,100 homes in Kyiv remain without heating.
As a result of a series of attacks on energy infrastructure in several districts of Kyiv, more than 1,100 apartment buildings remain without heat . Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that clear information about the timeframe for restoring heat supply must be provided for each such building.
"For each such building, there must be clear information about the timeframe for restoring heating and the guaranteed provision of heating and support services to residents," the head of state stated.
According to him, more than 200 emergency teams are currently deployed in the capital, dealing with the aftermath of the strikes and restoring damaged facilities. The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy announced its intention to increase the number of emergency teams to ensure staff rotation, as specialists are working under high workloads and severe physical exhaustion.
Government instructions and measures to support the population
The President of Ukraine also instructed the Prime Minister to urgently prepare specific data on the required volumes of additional support for the population in territorial communities across the country affected by the energy crisis.
Yulia Svyrydenko reported that, as part of the emergency measures introduced by the government in response to the energy situation, more than 9,000 individual entrepreneurs have already applied for one-time government assistance of up to 15,000 hryvnias . These funds are intended to ensure the autonomous operation of businesses during power outages.
In addition, according to her, banks received more than 270 applications under relevant support programs aimed at overcoming the consequences of the energy crisis.
Ukrainian authorities emphasize that energy infrastructure restoration continues around the clock, but the scale of destruction and ongoing attacks significantly complicate stabilization across the country.
