The two temporary units of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant have generated 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity since their commissioning on November 16, 2018, and September 9, 2019, according to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Construction work on the site is 60 percent complete. The station's dam has reached 1,116 meters above sea level, and its height is 151 meters.
According to the plan, the temporary turbines will be replaced with permanent working units this year.
The next unit of the plant is scheduled to be commissioned in September 2027. With electricity generated at the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant and the cascade of hydroelectric power plants on the Vakhsh River, Tajikistan will achieve energy independence.
