On March 3, 2026, the fourteenth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Dushanbe.
The meeting was chaired by the commission's co-chairs, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Sulaimon Ziyozoda and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atakhalliyev. Representatives of ministries and agencies from both countries also participated.
At the beginning of the meeting, it was noted that, thanks to the political will and support of the heads of state—the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov—bilateral cooperation in all areas is consistently expanding and reaching a qualitatively new level.



The parties discussed a number of important issues in bilateral relations. Specifically, they discussed the current state and prospects of trade and economic cooperation, the intensification of mutual trade, and the development of collaboration in transport and communications, energy and water resources, industry and construction, agriculture, education and science, healthcare, the medical industry, civil aviation, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, youth policy, and sports.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed the further expansion of the legal framework for bilateral relations.
It was emphasized that trade turnover between the two countries in 2025 amounted to USD 43.1 million. Compared to 2024, this figure increased by 17.1%, demonstrating the dynamic growth of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.



It was noted that the meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding. The parties expressed confidence that trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation between the two countries will continue to expand.
According to the meeting agenda, the protocol of the fourteenth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation will be agreed upon and signed on March 4.
