In Tajikistan, worsening weather conditions are forecast in the coming days, including rain, dusty haze, and lower temperatures.
According to the country's Hydrometeorological Agency, precipitation, some heavy, is expected in some areas of the republic and in the foothills of Khatlon Region on April 16. In mountainous areas above 2,500 meters, the rain will turn to snow.
Daytime temperatures are expected to drop by 8-10 degrees Celsius in valley and foothill areas as early as April 15. This is due to the influx of suspended particles, causing dust haze.
In addition, in some areas, westerly winds are expected to increase to 15–20 meters per second.
Forecasters warn that dust clouds will blow into the republic from the southwest and northwest on April 15 and 16. During this period, deteriorating air quality is expected in the southern cities and districts of Khatlon Region, the Districts of Republican Subordination, and Dushanbe.
On April 17 and 18, elevated dust concentrations will persist in the northern and central regions of the Sughd region. The atmospheric concentration of suspended particles, including PM-10 and PM-2.5, will increase.
From April 16 to 18, localized mudflows associated with precipitation are forecast in the foothill and mountainous regions of the republican subordination, Khatlon region, and in some places in the west of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
Also on April 16 and 17, an increase in water levels is expected in the Vakhsh, Yakhsu, and Kyzylsu (southern) rivers, as well as in the rivers flowing from the southern slopes of the Gissar Range.
Residents of the country are advised to take precautions in adverse weather conditions.
